Elucidating the Present

Cal-i-forn-i-ay! Thank God for this little slice of snowless wonder next to the ocean. After braving subzero snowy sop the last few days in Ohio, it’s refreshing to step off the plane into 70 degree weather. And sun! Sun! Even up here in the frigid north it’s around 60 in the day and sunny. Sunny! I’m a wimp – weather affects me too much – blame it on California.

So I’ve been uncannily lethargic since I got back in town. Which means since yesterday. I’ve been sleepy and jumpy at the same time. I just got up from a three and half hour nap. It’s now seven p.m. Weird. I think it has something to do with my horrid diet of the last week. Staying at my Grandmother’s I started the day with Bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, toast and cereal. Two hours later was lunch. Oy. So now that I’m back in the land of the future I’m eating only seaweed and kashi. (You think I’m joking don’t you!) I need to go get some soy milk for my cereal. Soymilk has really improved the last year or two. From what I can tell. I’m going up to the dirty hippy grocery store in Arcata tomorrow.

Time for a good old bullet list:

    Reading Matter:

    * Look Homeward, Angel – Thomas Wolfe (the old one)

    * Big Sur and The Oranges of Heironymus Bosch – Henry Miller

    * Death In the City – Francis Schaeffer

    People on my Mind:

    * Amanda

    Music in the CD player:

    * Travis

    * P.J. Harvey

    *Marvin Gaye

    b’bye — be in love
