she threw it!
31 January 2006 at 22:00
When getting in the car today Max found a stick that he wanted to bring with him. Not wanting him to poke himself in the eye on the way, she tried to take it from him. So he started running down the sidewalk with it. Eventually she got him into the car, with the stick. She took the stick from him and threw it out the window. Apparently on the drive over that's all he was thinking about, so the moment I opened the door and picked him up from his carseat he looks at me with indignation and pointed at his mom, ""Mommy took my stick and threw it!"" Chile demands justice!
boys vs. girls

Max seems to be getting the concept of sex differences, somehow. Last night he was drawing happy faces. He drew one in blue and one in pink. He told me ""Daddy is blue; Mommy is pink!""
Later that night he found a book I borrowed from a girl. It's He's just not that into you. It's a pink book. At first he asked me ""Is this movie?"" I said no. He flipped thru the pages, then looked at the (pink) cover. ""Hmm... this book is for girls."" He said as it put it back on the table.
He's really fun now that he can talk. This morning, when i turned the lights on. He squinted and said, very seriously, ""Light is too bright. It goes in my eyes!"" Just random phrases, but they sound funny at the time.

i used to be a different person, I used to have different thoughts
I'm not sure if i changed characters, or merely shifted plots;
I used to be a different person, I was someone I once knew
I don't remember changing, I doubt I really grew;
I used to be a different person, I lived in another place
I died, I disappeared, I barely left a trace;
I remember my former self, in flashes at times
I see myself speaking as if i'm reading lines;
I can't remember my old motivations
I can barely sense those old sensations
I was who I would be, without knowing why
and now I wish I were who I was, or was it just a lie?

Update: Hey, look we're trendy.
I read this today and thought it was a good idea.
So if you'd like to send max a note (give him a few years to learn to read before he replies) you can do so at MaxKidwell (squiggly thing) gmail (dot) com.
It's written funny to avoid spambots. evil spambots.
I'm going to use it to easily record things, like funny things he says, first time things, etc. That way if I'm ever wondering when he first painted the cat blue I can refer to his email box and have it time and date stamped. Neato.
