living in a political world

Left-Liberals prefer self-government in personal matters and central decision-making on economics. They want government to serve the disadvantaged in the name of fairness. Leftists tolerate social diversity, but work for economic equality.

That’s what i am according to the worlds smallest political quiz. The test is deeply flawed. On purpose.

It’s part of a libertarian site that would love to score everyone as close to the libertarian side as possible. The hoped for outcome is “Oh my, and here i thought i was a republican! I should join the libertarian party and vote for the next crackpot they shovel up!”

Not that i have anything against crackpots. Most of my votes go toward crackpots. Why do i think the test is flawed?

Check out this question:

Government should not control radio, TV, the press or the Internet.

The “correct” answer is “Yes, I agree.” Who wants censorship and government control over the media? But there is ambiguity in the real world. I want the government to keep it’s hands off the individual’s expression (hey, like this!) but the government does have a role, as the central depository of the arm of the American people, to control and check the ruthless execution of power by those wealthy enough to own the media outlets.

ie. Leave me alone, but make R. Murdoch leave me alone too.
