voltaire was wired, luther was buzzed

note to matt: While coffee does have the stimulative effect that would contribute to a hardy practice of the protestant work ethic, it was not the drink of choice for the reformers. Luther liked to sit around the pub tossing back a couple of pints and work out the fine details of his theology of the cross. Coffee, however, was the primary drink of the enlightenment age. Voltaire and those cats were sturdy coffee drinkers – fueling their rapid deconstruction of all meaning from the course of western culture. (You can see where I side on the issue, I suppose)

In other news, I’m selling off the massive inventory of books i own and moving. I think i’m moving to Toledo, tho things can always change. night night
